Q. When did you come to Parkway and what events led you here?
A. My husband and I felt God leading us to Virginia and moved here in the summer of 2005. Pastor Jeff and my husband have been friends since their high school days. When they first brought us to the Parkway team, it was to help them begin the church at EastLake. It is our privilege to serve Jesus here in Virginia.
Q. Where have you come from? What are some of your previous ministry experiences?
A. Ministry for me began as a child. My Dad and Mom were involved in ministry before I even became a part of their family. They taught me to love God and love people. At a very young age, I took a pen in hand. Crazy little books, papers and poetry – and as I grew older the songs began coming. I married Mark in 1988 and soon we were working together to finish Bible college. Together we then entered music evangelism, served as Ministers of Music, worked in Missions, and then joined the Parkway family.
All through these ministry experiences, writing and music has been a continued call on my life.
Q. Tell us about your family.
A. Children really are a blessing from the Lord. We have been blessed with five! Four boys and one girl. Vincent is 19, and just finished his first year of college at Ohio Christian University. He loves the Lord, and consistently uses his gifts for Him. Leighton is 16 – also a music lover, writes and plays bass for Jesus. Elena, age 14, loves Jesus and serves by helping in nursery – or wherever she is needed. She also loves singing solo, or with her family. Channing is 9. He loves Jesus, has a hunger for the Word that makes mom happy – plays baseball and is “all boy.” Britton at 5 just asked Jesus into his heart this year. Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus.
Q. What are your major responsibilities at Parkway? (Tell us what you do).
A. My duties include writing a weekly devotional for the bulletin, as well as writing special themed devotionals when needed, and “Stepping Stone” Bible Studies for the ladies. I help with music, and by mentoring ladies.
Q. What excites you most about your ongoing ministry here?
A. The privilege of being used as a small part of God’s great plan. The opportunity to share what God lays on my heart, and watch HIM use it in the lives of others. It’s awesome to have a place to serve in His Kingdom.
Q. Name one highlight over the past five years. Your favorite Parkway moment.
A. It’s difficult – because there are many. To hear how God used the recent “Stepping Stone Study” was extremely humbling and exhilarating all at the same time.
Q. What are your hobbies/interests? What are some things you especially like to do in your free time?
A. Free time? What’s that? Lol
Q. What is your favorite food?
A. Depends on what time of day it is . . . but chocolate usually covers it! J
Q. What book(s) have you read recently that you'd like to recommend? Do you have a favorite book?
A. The Word of God, Springs in the Valley, Get Off Your Knees and Pray, Fresh Power . . .
Q. What do you anticipate in the near future?
A. A move of God, a promise fulfilled, and ingathering of the harvest.
