About Pastor Brian Hughes
Q. When did you come to Parkway and what events led you here?
A.
In October 2007, my family and I came to Parkway. Our children were already attending Parkway Christian Academy and we were very familiar with some of the people as well as the vision the church had for the community. We began to feel God tugging on our hearts to be a part of what was going on here. The fact that there was a church actually planting other churches in the area was quite encouraging. Knowing that God was leading and the timing was right we gladly came to be a part of the fellowship.

Q. Where have you come from? What are some of your previous ministry experiences?
A.
I was raised in a Christian home. My father is preacher with the Assemblies of God. I was saved at the age of 13. I began to feel the call to preach and to full time service shortly after. I was a youth pastor for many years. I still love working with kids and youth. I've done various types of ministry, from street ministry to revival services. Most recently before I came to Parkway, I had the privilege to serve under Pastor Ronnie Palmer as his assistant pastor for 6 years. Here I touched on many different ministries from preaching to music. I'm very thankful to God for the time I've gotten to spend in His service in the past several years. God has showed me and taught me a lot.

Q. Tell us about your family.
A.
Lisa is my beautiful bride. We've been married 15 years. She was born and raised in California and is also a preacher's kid. We met while in Bible College in Missouri. She works here at PCA and enjoys every minute of it. She also sings here at the church and is a fantastic artist (drawing and such). We have 3 wonderful children together, Elijah, Isaiah, and Olivia. I have great hopes for my kids in Christ and look forward to what He's going to do in them and with them. I already see God working in their lives as He draws them closer to Himself. I'm very excited and grateful.

Q. What are your major responsibilities at Parkway? (Tell us what you do).
A.
My major responsibilities here are to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. We need it. We long for more of God and His direction and power. Just to be able to go before God and spend time in His presence to lift up His name as well as the needs of His people is very exciting. Everything we do must be led of God and also covered in prayer. The fact that I have the opportunity to do this abundantly is mind blowing. I also oversee and led different prayer ministries. There are several prayer meetings at the church during the week and that number will increase, God willing. I do a lot of visitation with those in the hospital, nursing homes, and shut-ins. I'm also developing several other prayer ministries to be outreaches. Some of these will be prayer evangelism and the usage of prayer stations. I also teach Sunday school and do a couple of Bible studies. I substitute teach at PCA whenever possible. I try to serve the church and its staff however possible, in hopes to encourage them and build them up. Be sure to let us know your needs so that we can pray for them. "Men ought always to pray."

Q. What excites you most about your ongoing ministry here?
A.
A lot excites me. Souls being saved, lives being changed, marriages mended, just to name a few. The fact that we plant churches brings joy to my heart because what goes on here spreads to the areas around us. I love that we are actually trying to fulfill the Great Commission. It doesn't matter; rich or poor, black or white, male or female, young or old, we want you to know and experience Jesus. Lord continue to help us follow You and rely totally on You. You are our only Hope and our Help.

Q. Name one highlight over the past five years. Your favorite Parkway moment.
A.
Seeing new people come in and new laborers go out into service for Christ. Also there was a spontaneous prayer meeting among the staff here recently that I cherish greatly.

Q. What are your hobbies/interests? What are some things you especially like to do in your free time?
A.
I love to sing and play music. Playing basketball and reading are also things I love to do. I enjoy spending time with family and traveling to national treasures, historic places, and all around fun filled destinations. I also love to work out and to exercise, even though it's been quite awhile. :)

Q. What is your favorite food?
A.
Just put it in front of me and I'll take a whack at it.

Q. What book(s) have you read recently that you'd like to recommend? Do you have a favorite book?
A.
I love to read. Especially books by the great "old-timers." Guys like Finney, A.W. Tozer, E.M. Bounds, etc. I also love to read guys like Michael Brown, David Wilkerson, Tommy Tenney, Jim Cymbala, John Bevere, and Leonard Ravenhill. I'm currently reading and recommend "God's Favorite House" by Tommy Tenney and "Love Not The World" by Watchman Nee. Must read books for every believer are "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire” by Jim Cymbala, "The Bait of Satan" by John Bevere, and "Revival Praying" by Leonard Ravenhill.

Q. What do you anticipate in the near future?
A.
I anticipate REVIVAL. Anything less than a total awakening and returning to God's ways and standards is off the mark. We must seek God continually and cry out to Him day and night until we see His glory fill the earth. We must allow God to search us to the inner most parts of our being and allow Him to change us into the very likeness of His son, Jesus. I set my heart on seeking Him for a fresh outpouring of His Holy Spirit upon His people and will not stop until we see full blown REVIVAL in the land. "Your will be done O' Lord. We praise your holy name and ask you to move in our midst, and for You to use us for Your glory. For Your name's sake Jesus, Amen."
