It's Ministry Time!
Maybe you've guessed by now, ministry is what we do here at Parkway! Ephesians 4 indicates every Christian has been given a gift and every Christian has a responsibility of utilizing that gift in the interest of others. The Scripture states, "He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelist, and some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry."
We are doing our best to apply those verses to our church life and ministry. And it has been thrilling to see what happens when selfless people sacrifice for God and His Kingdom.
If you are unfamiliar with our church, or are relatively new to our congregation, we would like to introduce you briefly to some of our ministries, perhaps you too would like to get involved!

Ministry Opportunities

Benevolence Committee
Our Benevolence ministry is designed to help those in financial need. We offer some monetary assistance as well as food and clothing. We are also developing a referral system for those with needs that we cannot meet. If you have interest in working in this area of ministry, please contact Linda Thompson @ 982-0115.
Camp Meeting Ministry
This ministry is designed to strengthen Christians during the summer months. Each July we bring in special speakers and singers as we spend a week at our campground located in Copper Hill, Virginia. We always need help in cleaning and preparing the grounds for camp as well as service during the camp. If interested, contact Tony Feazell @ 890-2391 or Pastor Jeff @ 982-0115.
Children's Ministry
Our children's ministry involves the many different programs we have to train and develop the children of Parkway. These include, Children's church, Vacation Bible School, Children's Choir and many other activities. If you are interested, please contact our Children's Ministry Director, Patti Lee @ 797-7573
Citizenship Ministry
We believe our church should lead its members to be involved in the society that we live in. If you enjoy the thought of voter registration drives, legislative updates and National issues that affect Christians, contact Christie Miller @ 890-7011 for more information on how to make a difference through this ministry.
Decorations Ministry Team
This ministry is designed to beautify the church by decoration according to season, etc. This team also is in charge of providing gifts for special Sundays such as, Mother's Day.
Divorce Care Recovery
When others step out, we step in. Our Divorce Care Recovery ministry is designed to help those who are hurting as a result of divorce. If you have a passion for the hurting and would like to make a difference in this area of ministry, contact Kim Parker @ 890-2266.
Discipleship Ministry
A ministry designed to give mature Christians the opportunity to come along side a newer Christian and teach them how to walk with Jesus. This ministry includes one on one mentoring as well as leading weekday/night small groups. This ministry currently has openings for several mature Christians who want to nurture younger Christians in their newfound faith. If interested, contact Pastor Jeff @ 982-0115.
Hispanic Ministry
The Hispanic Ministry was begun by Dave and Sybil Calhoun initially offering English classes to Hispanics in the Roanoke Valley. They continue to offer those classes each Wednesday evening at 7pm but have expanded to a Sunday morning worship service for Hispanics at 11am. Contact Dave and Sybil thru the church office @ 982-0115.
Janitorial Ministry Team
This ministry team keeps our buildings sparkling on a weekly basis. The volunteers on this team average about 2 hours of cleaning time per month. Over the last seven years this team of volunteers has saved the church close to $50,000.00. If you have a servant's heart and want to make a difference in this area of ministry, contact David Gay @ 314-7323.
Kitchen Committee
A ministry designed to provide for the numerous social events at Parkway as well as provide refreshments for board meetings, etc. This ministry currently has openings for team members. If interested, contact Linda Thompson @ 982-0115.
Lawn Team
These guys and gals bring glory to God by keeping our lawns well manicured and beautiful. Our lawns, trees, etc., make a strong statement to our community about our view of God. If you would like to make a difference in this area of ministry, contact Richard Oakes @ 312-8942.
Maintenance Ministry Team
This is the ministry that keeps our buildings in excellent operating condition. The maintenance team does everything from changing the light bulbs to painting the walls. If you would like to help make a difference in this area, contact Pastor Ray Campbell @ 982-0115.
Media Ministry
This ministry includes working with our computer programs as well as developing and maintaining our web site. We currently have an opening for the coordinator's position as well as team members. Contact Pastor Dan Coy @ 982-0115.
Men's Ministry
This ministry is designed to challenge the men of our church to step up and become the leaders God desires. Currently this ministry is being restructured. If interested, call Pastor Ray @ 982-0115.
Missions Ministry
Our mission's ministry is designed to support missionaries around the world through prayer and financial support. Our Wednesday night offerings are given exclusively to support missions. In the future, we are looking to put together some work teams, etc., to send to the mission field in order to help build buildings, etc. If you have interest in getting involved with our missions program, please contact John Brake @ 344-5309.
Music Ministry Team
This ministry is designed to provide special music for our public worship services. If you have some natural ability and a willingness to work hard, we have room for you. If interested, contact Patti Lee @ 982-0115.
Nursery Ministry
A ministry designed to care for our children so that our parents can worship without distraction. This ministry has openings for loving women who are willing to serve during one service each month. If interested, please contact Paula Shepherd @ 890-0589.
Office Ministry
A ministry designed to support our church office during the week. If you want to help with church mailings, making copies, putting booklets together, etc. please contact Linda Thompson @ 982-0115.
Outreach Ministry Team
A ministry designed to bridge the gap between our community and church. If you like being on the cutting edge, this is the ministry for you. If interested, please contact the Church office @ 982-0115.
Outdoor Sportsman's Club
This is a ministry designed to build relationships among those who love to hunt, fish and spend time in God's great outdoors. If you would like to make a difference through this ministry, contact Pastor Dan @ 982-0115.
Parkway Christian Academy
PCA provides a great opportunity for ministry for those who love children and want to help develop tomorrow's leaders. We need quality volunteers to help in a number of different areas. If you would like to make a difference in this area of ministry, please contact our school administrator, Mr. Troy Dixon @ 982-2400.
Prayer Ministry Team
A ministry designed to make sure that every prayer request received is prayed over every day throughout the week. This ministry currently has openings for a coordinator and team members. If interested, call Les and Mary Ann Wyrick @ 890-1598.
Recreation Ministry
Our recreation ministry is just now getting started. It is our desire to use our recreational facilities to reach out to our community and to aid those who attend Parkway. If you have interest in helping this ministry get off the ground, please contact Mike Summers @ 798-8145.
Seniors Activities Ministry
This is a ministry designed to create opportunities for our seniors to get better acquainted with each other. We are looking to greatly expand this ministry. If you love seniors and want to make a difference in their lives, contact Pastor Ray Campbell @ 589-1722.
Singles Ministry
Our singles ministry serves the adult singles of the church. We have an active and growing group of singles that are involved in numerous good works. If you would like to get more involved, contact Steve Foster @ 982-0115.
Sound Ministry
This ministry oversees the operation of our Sound System, tape ministry, etc. We currently have openings for team members who have some experience and would be willing to work the soundboard once every couple of weeks. If interested, contact Pastor Dan @ 588-5809.
Special Projects Ministry Team
This ministry is designed to undertake major "One Time" tasks. This includes areas such as our church directory, Friend Day, etc. If interested in getting involved in one time, short-term tasks contact Linda Thompson @ 982-0115.
Sunday School
This ministry is designed to teach the Bible to all ages. Our Sunday School Classes meet at 9:50 AM on Sunday mornings. Currently we have an opening for teachers and assistant teachers. If interested, please contact Charlie Turner @ 344-0293.
Usher's Ministry
This ministry is designed to help with offerings, seating, parking, etc. If you have interest in this area of ministry, please contact Will Altizer @ 890-7000.
Welcome Committee
This ministry is designed to make our visitors feel welcome when they arrive at our church and then to follow up with an act of kindness the following week. If interested, contact Gina Brown @ 890-9706.
Women's Ministry Team
This ministry is designed to help the women of our church build lasting relationships with each other and God. The women's ministry is also responsible for hospitality, etc. If you would like to get more involved, contact Judy Ralph @ 343-4713.
Youth Ministry
This ministry is designed to reach out to the 12-19 year old individual. This ministry involves everything from weekly classes to annual camps.
