Our Children's Ministry Director-Patti Lee
Q. When did you come to Parkway and what events led you here?
A. Well to be honest I don’t remember my first day at Parkway because I was a newborn baby. I literally cut my teeth on the pews at Parkway. My parents were saved under the founding pastor, Robert Painter and raised all five of us children here. After high school graduation I went to Bible College knowing God wanted me in full time ministry. While there God called me to minister to children who I have always had a special place in my heart for. After returning home in 1997 I came on staff under our former pastor, Steve Parker. As they say, the rest is history.
Q. Where have you come from? What are some of your previous ministry experiences?
A. As a young 12 year old girl I got saved at our church camp (Blue Ridge Holiness Camp) under the preaching of Paul Peirpoint. It wasn’t long after that I knew God was calling me into ministry. After High School I attended college at God’s Bible School and graduated from the Bible Theology Department. I then came on staff at Parkway under our former pastor, Steve Parker. I have enjoyed traveling with singing groups doing public relations as well as working with our local Salvation Army Men’s Homeless Shelter.
Q. Tell us about your family.
A. I married the love of my life, Iaan, on May 4th 2002. God has given us a beautiful little boy, Parker. He is our live entertainment and we love it. He loves to play and eat. Fried onions, Mexican, Chinese, and anything Memaw cooks.
Q. What are your major responsibilities at Parkway? (Tell us what you do).
A. I am the Children’s Ministry Director here at Parkway. I also assist Pastor Dan Coy with our music ministry.
Q. What excites you most about your ongoing ministry here?
A. The thing that excites me most about my ministry is seeing kids excited about coming to church and how hungry they are for the things of God. Another thing that excites me is seeing children that were in Children’s Church when I first came to Parkway going off to Bible College and ministering in our church plants.
Q. Name one highlight over the past five years. Your favorite Parkway moment.
A. There are so many, but for the moment it is definitely coming back on staff with all of these great people and being part of a body of believers that anticipates what God is going to do next.
Q. What are your hobbies/interests? What are some things you especially like to do in your free time?
A. I love a good movie and anything fun. I enjoy getting together with my family and eating a good meal together and just laughing and talking. I am also a die hard Redskin fan. I love to watch football especially if the Redskins are playing the Dallas Cowboys!
Q. What is your favorite food?
A. Whatever my Mom is having for Sunday dinner and I enjoy Mexican. I also LOVE chocolate!
Q. What book(s) have you read recently that you'd like to recommend. Do you have a favorite book?
A. One of my favorite books is “Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions” by George Barra. If you have children I definitely recommend that you read this book. I am currently reading “Lead the Way God Made You” by Larry Shallenberger.
Q. What do you anticipate in the near future?
A. The thing I anticipate most in the future is seeing lost children come to Jesus. I am also very excited about Pastor Jeff Keaton’s new vision and how great it will impact the Children’s Ministry here at Parkway. God is so awesome!
